The Tahoe City Downtown Association is seeking a reliable, seasonal employee to water the flower baskets on the streetlight poles early in the morning every other day in downtown Tahoe City and at a few West Shore locations. This position includes driving TCDA’s Flower Watering Truck to water the flowers. 

The position is 2.5 hours for each shift, 3-4 days per week. 

Running from June through late September, the program features iconic hanging flower baskets throughout downtown as well as several baskets on the West Shore down to Sunnyside. These baskets add color and charm to our community while supporting the local economy by creating an inviting environment for shopping, dining, and strolling.

Schedule

Approximately every other day from June through late September. Scheduling may vary based on weather and plant conditions. 

Key responsibilities

• Water hanging flower baskets located throughout downtown Tahoe City and on the West Shore on a regular schedule using TCDA’s Flower Water Truck.

• Flowers must be watered in the mornings at dawn in downtown and completed by 8 a.m. 

• Monitor baskets for plant health and report any concerns such as drying, damage, or pests

• Ensure baskets remain attractive and vibrant throughout the summer season

• Maintain watering equipment and supplies

• Communicate regularly with TCDA staff regarding watering needs or maintenance issues

• Support the overall appearance and cleanliness of flower basket locations

Job requirements

• Must be a morning person 

• Live locally

• Valid driver’s license 

• Clean driving record 

• Reliable transportation

• Ability to lift 25–40 lbs

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather

• Ability to work independently and follow a schedule

• Follow safety guidelines around streets and sidewalks

• Interested in supporting community beautification and local businesses
